Arunachal pradesh, the land of seven sister states is occupied by various tribes.They each have a unique method of cooking. Some tribes use fermented cheese in their cooking which is very common for monpa tribes of Arunachal. Kharzi Rice is a dish from the monpa tribes, which is very tasty.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Cooked rice
  • 3-4 Dry Red Chillies
  • 2 tablespoon Mozzarella cheese , or fermented cheese
  • Ginger
  • 3-4 cloves Garlic
  • 1 Tomato
  • Salt
  • 1/2 cup Spring Onion (Bulb & Greens)
  • 1/4 cup Green peas (Matar) , freshly boiled
  • teaspoon Oil

How to make Arunachal Style Kharzi Rice Recipe

  1. To begin the preparation of Arunachal Style Kharzi Rice, soak dry red chillies in hot water for 10 to 15 minutes before starting the procedure.

  2. Use leftover rice or cook rice and keep ready

  3. Now take one sliced tomato, 3-4 soaked red chillies,garlic cloves, little ginger in blender, add 2 tablespoon mozzarella cheese or fermented cheese, salt to it and blend to paste.

  4. Take a vessel and add just a teaspoon of oil and add this paste and saute on a very low flame to just leave the raw smell of ginger.

  5. Keep stirring continuously to prevent melted cheese from sticking to bottom. Add spring onions immediately and mix for few seconds. Do it on low flame. Switch off the stove.

  6. Add hot rice and boiled peas to the above paste and mix.

  7. Serve Kharzi hot with Mooli Raita.

-If you want more spicy add more red chillies.when its hot it tastes good so i prefer to add more chillies.

-Adding peas is optional

-If you dont like smell of fermented cheese mozarella is best option
