Sindhi Kheerni Recipe is a traditional Sindhi recipe of a kheer. Served for breakfast along with puris or just as a dessert after a complete meal.  

This kheerni is made by reducing the quantity milk to half, that results in a thick kheer, which is then sweetened with sugar and scented with some cardamom and saffron, along with the star ingredient of the nylon seviyan, that resembles thin hair like strands, and don't miss the generous topping of some unsalted almonds and pistachios that add a bite to this creamy kheerni.

  • 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom Powder (Elaichi)
  • 50 grams Thin Semiya (Seviyan)
  • 1-1/2 liter Milk
  • Saffron strands , a few
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 4 Whole Almonds (Badam) , chopped
  • 4 Pistachios , chopped

How to make Sindhi Kheerni Recipe - Sindhi Seviyan Kheer

  1. To begin making the Sindhi Kheerni Recipe, in a sauce bring the milk to a rolling boil. 

  2. Once the milk has boiled, reduce the flame, and allow the milk to simmer on low flame, until it reduces to half it's quantity. This process will take a good 20 minutes. 

  3. Ensure the milk is stirred occasionally. 

  4. Once the milk is reduced, add the cardamom powder, and a few strands of saffron. 

  5. Next, to this add, the sugar and mix vigorously until the sugar melts. 

  6. Finally, add in the thin seviyan and wait until the seviyan wilts down and becomes soft. 

  7. Turn off the flame, transfer the Sindhi Kheerni to a serving platter and garnish with some crushed almonds and pistachios
