Chaat Masala Recipe is a quick masala made with ingredients that are easily found in the kitchen. A mix of whole spices like peppercorns, cumin and coriander seeds combined with earthy black salt, and dry mango powder. 

A super quick masala it can be used in making chaat recipes, in buttermilk recipes, raitas, dahi vadas and in any recipe, to up the chatpata quotient.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander (Dhania) Seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Whole Black Peppercorns
  • 2 teaspoons Black Salt (Kala Namak)
  • 3 tablespoons Amchur (Dry Mango Powder)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Asafoetida (hing)
  • Salt , to taste

How to make Chaat Masala Recipe

  1. To begin making the Chaat Masala Recipe, heat a pan on low flame and dry roast the cumin seeds, coriander seeds and black peppercorns. 

  2. Roast for on medium-low heat until fragrant. This will take about 8-10 minutes. 

  3. Turn off the flame and allow it to come to room temperature. 

  4. Transfer to a mixer jar, add the black salt, dry mango powder, asafoetida and salt to taste. 

  5. Grind to a fine powder.
