Thai food is quite easily one of the most flavourful and delicious Asian cuisines. We love it for the way it really packs a punch in terms of ingredients that really stand out boldly. It's one of those cuisines that demands that you use only the freshest herbs, reach out for spices you would otherwise shy away from, and bring it all together with a terrific blend of spicy, sweet, tangy and salty tones. The truth is, Thai food is not hard to make at home. Easier still, is a vegetarian Thai menu. And so this weekend, we have a medley of Thai flavours to woo you into the kitchen.
This is a simple but sumptuous 3-course selection that covers the expected Thai soups, the Papaya Salad, and a range of main courses that can be had with either rice or Thai style noodles. The good news is the selection steers clear of the cliches of Thai Red Curry and Thai Green Curry, which you can quite easily prepare if you have the Red Paste and Green Paste ready at hand. But be a little adventurous and try these unique preparations for a chance. We promise, you wont regret it!
1 - Soups And Salad
What is a Thai meal without some piping hot soup for a comforting, warm beginning? Choose this Spicy Vegetarian Thai Noodle Bowl which packs a punch and is a medley of colours, or this Vegetarian Tom Yum Soup along with the classic Thai Green Papaya Salad on the side.
2 - Main Course
You will enjoy having this preparation of Crunchy, healthy Stir Fried Green Beans along with Thai Roasted Vegetables with Peanut Coconut Sauce, or Lemongrass Tofu and Vegetable Curry Recipe if you're into simple, mellow flavours. For something with a little more punch, try the sweet and sour, Thai Pineapple Vegetarian Curry. You can have all of this with Jasmine Sticky Rice, or Vegetarian Pad Thai. Or both!
3 - Desserts
For an Asian end to an Asian meal, choose the Coconut Tapioca Pudding with a Spicy Strawberry Sauce. It is unusual, yet delicate and delicious. For something more mainstream, the Thai Style Fried Bananas are delicious when served with sweetened cream or Vanilla Ice Cream. Berries are in season and this Blueberry Fool is a wonderful way to end a weekend meal.
