One of the main ingredients in this recipe is the "sesame seeds" or "til" which give the dish a nutty flavor.

Andhra Cuisine is famous for its plethora of chutneys. For a typical Andhrite, no meal is complete without this essential item. It is consumed on its own mixed with rice or is also eaten as a side dish with pappu/koora. Pachadi is typically made of vegetables/greens and roasted green/red chilies. It is prepared fresh and is consumed within a day or two.

Ingredients

  • 3 Mango (Raw) , peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup Sesame seeds (Til seeds)
  • 5 Green Chillies , (adjust to taste)
  • Salt , to taste
  • For tempering
  • 2 teaspoons Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds (Rai/ Kadugu)
  • 3 Dry Red Chillies , (adjust to taste)
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida (hing)

How to make Mamidikaya Nuvvula Pachadi Recipe - Raw Mango Til Chutney Recipe

  1. To begin making Andhra Style Mamidikaya Nuvvula Pachadi,  wash the mangoes and chop it roughly into small pieces.

  2. In a kadai, dry roast the sesame/til, till fragrant and slightly brown. Let it cool.

  3. Meanwhile heat a tadka pan with a bit of oil for tempering. Add mustard seeds, allow them to crackle, then add cumin seeds, allow them to sizzle, add dry red chillies, curry leaves immediately, saute for a few more seconds and switch off heat. Keep this aside.

  4. In a mixer jar, add the raw mango pieces, sesame seeds, asafoetida, green chillies and salt and blend Mamidikaya Nuvvula Pachadi till smooth, and take it out in a serving bowl.

  5. Add the tempering to to the Mamidikaya Nuvvula Pachadi Recipe and lightly mix. Check the salt and adjust the taste accordingly.

  6. Serve Andhra Style Mamidikaya Nuvvula Pachadi with Steamed Rice, and Andhra Style Palakura Pappu Recipe topped with homemade ghee.
