Foil chicken or Chicken in a foil is a fusion recipe which can be prepared in advance and can be served in parties, potluck. 

A semi gravy chicken dish, the chicken is marinated in a tandorri masala and some red chilli sauce, and then baked in a parcel using foil and finally topped with a masaledar thick gravy. 

Great to make during the winters and monsoons and serve it right out of the oven. 

You can serve foil chicken with naans, pulao and salads.

  • 6 Chicken legs , washed and cleaned
  • 3 tablespoons Tandoori masala
  • 1 Lemon , juiced
  • 3/4 cup Curd (Dahi / Yogurt)
  • 3 tablespoons Red Chilli sauce
  • 1 cup Tomato Ketchup
  • 1/2 cup Homemade tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup Dessicated Coconut
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Cashew nuts , ground to paste
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons Poppy seeds , ground to paste
  • Salt , to taste 
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder (Jeera)
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder (Jeera)

How to make Chicken In A Foil Recipe

  1. To begin making Chicken In A Foil Recipe, marinate chicken legs in a mixing bowl by adding in the ginger garlic paste , tandoori masala, curd, red chilli sauce, salt and lemon juice. 

  2. Mix well to coat the chicken and let the chicken legs rest for about 30 minutes.

  3. Preheat oven at 400 Deg F for about 10 minutes.

  4. Arrange the chicken pieces on a sheet of foil, close the foil around the chicken to make a parcel and bake for 25 minutes.

  5. In a pan add oil, tomato puree, chilli powder, poppy seed paste, dry coconut powder, cashew paste, cumin powder and cook till the mixture is cooked and comes together.

  6. When the chicken is done in oven, mix it with the prepared sauce.
